Currently, global warming is expected to increase 1.5°C by 2040 or even earlier. Countries around the world have introduced a series of environmental regulation policies to address climate, environmental and energy risks. Academics have recognized the impact of environmental regulation on society, but it is still worth exploring in depth. This special issue focuses on the empirical evidence and theoretical mechanisms that link environmental regulation to quality development in society, explores how high-quality social development responds to changes in environmental regulation, optimizes and improves environmental policies, enhances social benefits, and actively addresses the challenges of global climate change. In order to better understand the social benefits of environmental regulation, we also welcome papers dealing with various analytical methods, approaches, and perspectives; interdisciplinary research on environmental regulation indicator systems, evaluation methods, and theoretical framework construction; and case study of environmental regulation policy.
